Quality certifications and R&D projects

The ISO 27001:2013 Standard sets the requirements for establishing, implementing, maintaining and continually improving an information security management system within the context of the organization. Created and defined by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), it also specifies requirements for the assessment and treatment of information security risks and the definition of the organizational scheme to ensure the integrity and confidentiality of the information access. VSN has the following Integrated Information System Policy which is available to its employees here.

The EUMSSI project (Event Understanding through Multimodal Stream Interpretation) is looking forward to develop new tools for identifying and aggregating data presented as unstructured information and in formats of very different nature (video, image, audio, speech, text and social context), including both online (e.g., YouTube) and traditional media (e.g. audio visual repositories). EUMSSI is a European collaborative project in which take part numerous institutions and organizations from several European countries. It is funded by the EU through its research and development programs.

Development of an innovative system of unambiguous scene description and universal interpretation through semantics, as a functionality for audiovisual archiving systems. This feature allows to maximize the content search capability through the structuring, extraction and cataloging of metadata to assist the documentalist’s work.

The project ‘Journalism Innovation HUB’ started by the Spanish public broadcasting service RTVE in 2018, aims to study the digital transformation in news production and how all the tools that journalists use on a daily basis could be deployed in Cloud infrastructures, avoiding to depend on on premise infrastructures. The project also researches new technologies and production means that could be used to reach audiences anywhere. The results of the project will be put into practice in radio, television and interactive media during live events’ media coverage.
